How to Reach Jawai: Nearest Airport, Railway Station and Distances From Major Cities

Jawai is in Pali district, western Rajasthan, and there is no airport or major station right at the safari villages. That is easy to plan around once you know the options. The nearest airports are Udaipur and Jodhpur, the nearest stations are Mori Bera, Jawai Bandh and Falna, and a cab covers the last stretch. Here is how to reach Jawai, with distances from every major city and a short route plan for each type of traveller.
At Jawai Safari's, we have run leopard safaris around Jawai since 2011, and we answer these route questions every week.
Where Is Jawai?
Jawai sits roughly between Udaipur and Jodhpur, in the Aravalli hills of Pali district. It is a cluster of villages (Bera, Sena, Maad and others) around the Jawai Dam, and distances change by a few kilometres depending on which village you stay in. Always check the final figure on Google Maps with your exact stay as the destination.
Nearest Airport to Jawai
There is no airport at Jawai. The two realistic choices are:
Udaipur Airport (UDR, Maharana Pratap Airport): about 145–165 km by road, around 3 to 3.5 hours by cab. It has direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai and several other cities.
Jodhpur Airport (JDH): about 147–170 km by road, around 3 to 3.5 hours by cab.
Ahmedabad (about 270 km), Jaipur (about 400 km) and Delhi (about 645 km) have airports too, but they are too far for a cab to be the sensible last leg. For those cities, the train or a flight to Udaipur is usually better.
Nearest Railway Station to Jawai
Several stations serve the area, and the best one depends on where you stay:
Mori Bera (MOI): about 4 km from Bera. It is the closest, but fewer trains stop here.
Nana (NANA): about 11 km.
Jawai Bandh / Sumerpur Jawai Bandh (JWB / SJWB): about 14–16 km. It is the main station for the dam area, and several long-distance trains stop here.
Falna (FA): about 32 km. It is the largest junction nearby and has the widest choice of trains, including the Delhi Rajdhani.
Station distances come from the hotels' own listings and vary slightly by source, so confirm with your stay. Check train timings on IRCTC before booking, since timetables change.

Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur
These are nearby attractions, not starting points. The distance depends strongly on your stay. Listings on the Ranakpur side report only a few kilometres, while stays near Bera are closer to 90–100 km from Kumbhalgarh. See our post on places to visit near Jawai for the route and timing.
Ranthambore
Ranthambore is a much longer, separate trip and not a practical add-on. Compare the two parks in our post on Jawai vs Ranthambore.
Which Route Is Best for You?
Flying in from far away: fly into Udaipur (or Jodhpur) and take a cab. This is the fastest way for travellers from Delhi, Mumbai and abroad.
Coming from Gujarat: drive from Ahmedabad, or take a train towards Falna or Abu Road and a cab from there.
Coming from Jaipur or Delhi: the overnight train is the best value, and a flight to Udaipur is the fastest.
Travelling as a family or group: a private cab from Udaipur or Jodhpur gives the most flexibility and avoids station transfers.
Short on time: fly to Udaipur in the morning and you can be at your stay by afternoon. Plan the safari for the next morning or evening.
The Last Stretch: From the Station or Airport to Your Stay
Public transport on the last stretch is limited, especially in the evening or early morning, so most guests arrange a cab in advance. Tell your stay your train or flight details so they can plan around any very early or late arrival. See our pickup and drop details for what we can arrange. [CONFIRM: pickup from Udaipur, Jodhpur and the stations before publishing.]
